This site was created originally as a resource for botanical artists. Its objective was to assist artists with their understanding of botany. In the years since ArtPlantae was established, its objective has grown beyond assisting botanical artists. Its current objective is to encourage an interest in plants and nature through botanical illustration in artists, gardeners, naturalists, and educators.

ArtPlantae is no longer one website. It is now three websites -- ArtPlantae.com , ArtPlantae Today, and ArtPlantae Books. ArtPlantae Today is a gathering place for botanical illustrators and a growing searchable resource. It is also the location of store events for ArtPlantae Books. Online and outdoors, ArtPlantae Books specializes in titles addressing botanical art history, botanical art instruction, botany, plant identification, economic botany, and gardening.
